Which is the "one true church"?

by

All these denominations to choose from, which one is the truth? As far as i can tell they all have some truth; some more than others. The picture i got is like this; If God were a tree then people on one side of it could only see the part on their side, & other people on the other side would see some different details, however they are both looking at the same tree (kinda similar to the story about the 3 blind men & the elepahant; one touched it's tummy & thought it was a wall, another touched it's tail & thought it was a snake & the third touched it's leg & thought it was a tree). Because God is so big that He is infinite, it is impossible for any one human to accumulate in their finite brain all the infinite truths of God. I think that the devil uses the denominations to play that old military tactic against us, namely "divide and conquer" - we get so hung up bickering amonst ourselves that the devil has free reign to run amok in the streets.
 Lets look at some scriptures:
Eph 4:4-6 - "
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."
1 Cor 12:27 - "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."
1 Cor 6:19 - "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
2 Cor 13:5 - "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"
Rom 8:11 - "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."
These tell me that there is only one true church, called "the Body of Christ" & that instead of being located in a building, it is found in the hearts of individuals who according to Jn 17:3 have a relationship with God & He as a result, along with Jesus & the Holy Spirit take up residence inside of people.
Now there is a thought that i see in 1 Cor 12:5 (there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord) that tells me that it is possible for the one true God to be the father of more than one denomination. Normally i find that whenever a group takes 1 Jn 5:19 to the Nth degree, it is a bad idea seeing as how they tend to end up like David Koresh.
Ok well we still are probably saying "That's all well and good, but i still don't have an answer about what church i should go to." so lets look at a couple more scriptures:
Isa 8:20 - "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
Isa 59:21 - "my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth"
Dt 4:2 -"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it"
So wherever you go you should make sure that they are teaching straight from the bible & not making stuff up as they go along. And the way to do that is to fulfill Acts 17:10-11 - "they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so".
Also, you might want to find a church that shares your heart. If you have a heart for missions or evangelism for example, then perhaps a church that focuses on what your interests are.
The most important factor in deciding which church to go to, would be obedience. What church does God want me to go to? Now for a lot of people they may not know the answer to that question - for them i have a scripture: Jn 10:1-5 - "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." - verse 3 says that the sheep (that's us - Ez 34:31) hear His voice, so then if you don't know what the voice of God sounds like, i suggest that you keep praying that verse over & over untill you do.
When we have a relationship with God then we are able to fulfill this verse in Jn 3:8 - "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." which basically says that nobody will know where you came from or where you are going but you will always be in the right place at the right time. So whatever church God puts you in, it is probably the right one for you ("Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called" - 1 Co 7:20).
Remember that no matter what church you go to, Jesus warned us in Mt 7:15 - "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." so there is a possibility that some of the people there will have hidden agendas. There is also a story in Mt 13 where Jesus talked about tares that represent people in the church who are just taking up space & using resources, however God refuses to remove them prematurely so as to not do any of the good ones damage.
