Are you saved?

by

To me this is a trick question. In Mt 7:21-23 Jesus said "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.". Jesus also said in Lk 18:10-14 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." - this looks to me like there are people who run around saying that they are saved, while they probably aren't; and that there is some sort of counterfeit relationship with God called "religon" that the devil uses to fool (bamboozle, hoodwink) people into thinking that they are on the right road when they are in fact lost in the wilderness somewhere.
Again i am going back to Jn 17:3 wich says that our salvation is based on our relationship with God; not our Pastor's relationship or our Grandma's. Don't get me wrong, i am not knocking their prayers, but without an individual & personal, not to mention deep & meaningful relationship with God it is impossible to recieve the free gift of salvation.
There are a couple of measuring stick scriptures that you might want to look at if you think you are saved, namely Jn 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." & 1 Cor 13:1-3 (NKJV) "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing." & Jn 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." & Lk 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" - so basically if you think you are saved then check your love level & your obedience level; be honest with yourself and keep in mind 1 Jn 3:20-21 "For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.".
